Palm Cards for White Noise

Front

Back

This is our palm card. The front of the palm card is more simple and centers the logo to draw your attention to it. The date, time, and place are placed underneath the logo to allow the viewer to see this information right away. We decided to add the diagonal aspect to the palm card to add more consistency to the ticket. We also wanted the palm card to relate the poster so we decided to reintroduce the "white noise" states and have that as the graphical element.

Final Series

For the final piece, I created a campaign logo and modified my poster and advertisement to be a cohesive piece. The zoo poster was meant to be fun and cute and encourage the fun that comes from the zoo and how it can be even better with a fun animal ice cream cone. The second photo is the campaign label for the ice cream. It's directly placed on the ice cream because ice cream is often one of the foods that you always contemplate on buying. This label will trigger memories and get the consumer to buy the ice cream. Finally, the advertisement is placed in context in a magazine. A lot advertisements these days are about how to keep your shape or have you buy a certain product to improve your life, but the advertisement I made was to stimulate happy memories and think about those times, allowing people not to feel guilty for their decision to go and buy some ice cream to enjoy.

Poster

For the second part of the series, I decided to create a poster for the zoo. I thought that the zoo would be a good place to campaign ice cream for it's a place where we often recall fun, exciting memories as a child and always asking our parents to buy us ice cream while walking around. I didn't want to directly show ice cream here, but to imply the idea that ice cream would make your day that much better.

Advertisements

For one of pieces of the series, I decided to do an advertisement. These are some of the images that I took of my friend's brothers and a mock magazine advertisement. I wanted to convey the happy moments that you have when eating ice cream. The advertisement would promote ice cream by stimulating the viewer's personal memories and go and buy it for new memories.

Ice Cream Series Process

For our next project, we were suppose to come up with informative series that reflected a central idea. I decided to consistent with the idea of triggering the pathos using ice cream as my main focus. The picture here shows the different ideas that I had come up with. The first row focuses on different memories that associate with ice cream to get the viewer to go out and buy some ice cream to because of the nostalgic memories. The second row displays how ice cream has developed to what it is today by informing the viewer of how it started and so on. The third row is promoting calcium and how ice cream is not only a sweet treat, but can also make your bones strong. I decided to develop my first idea because it fit well with the pathos from the previous poster and it was a good transition into this series. I also felt that many people can relate to different times that they've had ice cream and this can really trigger a person's desire to eat something if associated with a happy memory.

Final Persuasive Poster

Photography

After the critique in class, I decided to take photographs outside. I began by taking similar pictures of my feet and ice cream cone in the images. After speaking with Angie, the simple images were creating a more clear message whereas the other images were just giving unnecessary information that could be assumed. I began to look at these images and how I could crop them to create a visually interesting poster.

Final Persuasive Poster

I wanted to create a simple poster that had a sentimental feeling to it. The text '5 second rule...?' was placed in the poster to appeal to the situation. Although realistically we would not eat the dropped ice cream, we've all had that split second in our head saying maybe it's ok to eat. The type used is a chalk-like text to incorporate it within the setting of the poster and to all ow the viewer to relate to this incident, when it most likely occurred at a younger age. I believe the diagonal view point of poster broke the static view of a sidewalk and create movement as well.

Persuasive Poster Process

These are some sketches for some of my initial ideas. I wanted to create a persuasive poster that focused on the pathos by allowing the viewer to recall the moment they contemplated on which ice cream to buy or remembering when they dropped their ice cream on the ground.

I decided to go with the idea of a dropped ice cream on the ground. In order to capture this moment, I began by recreating it and took images to reference from like the one shown above. I wanted the image to look as if the viewer was apart of the image with the arm reaching towards the ice cream in an act of desperation.

Final Book Review

The book review presentation followed as the process steps had explained.
The presentation was set up as a 4 different sections, explaining their means.
The sprouts represent artwork that often talks about our identity.
The trunk refers to different styles that are involved with the objects we use.
The branches refer to different areas that have design in them.
Finally, the leaves represent interactive design.
I wanted the layout of the presentation to reflect the book.
So I kept the white background and similar design for the description of the art work.
I also kept the same colors to represent the different section of the slides.

Book Review

Graphics Alive by Victionary

For our first project, we introduced a design book of our choice. The presentation on PowerPoint focused on the outline as well as the pros and cons of the book. The book I choose was Graphics Alive by Victionary. The book focused how graphics are all around us and how we often times we do not realize it. The images provide a great reference to different styles and medias of artwork from all over the world.

Process work

We began by coming up with concept ideas for the presentation. The book was grouped in four different types of artwork being displayed: sprout, trunk, branches and leaves. These sections would be first introduced and explained as they followed with three different examples to represent the idea.
